Big Ten Chess League

The season will run from September - May

A participant of the league must be a current student of the school at the beginning of the academic year, undergraduate or graduate.

Each school may have 1 5-person varsity team with two replacements plus an unlimited number of optional jv members.

The varsity section will be run in a round robin team format whereas the jv section will be run as a swiss style individual tournament.

Any varsity board that is not filled by one of the two replacements will be considered a forfeit by the team

Each jv member will have 1 ½ point bye for the whole season, not to be used in the last game.

Time control will be G/120 with 5 second delay for all games

A maximum of two games per month with all games held on the weekend allowing for all people to make space in their schedule

All games will occur at 12 PM Central.

All games will be held online over chess.com.

If an alternate is replacing a team member, the notification must be put on chess.com at least a week before the match, notifying the new team member he/she will be playing
- A player can claim a win by forfeit if their opponent has not connected with them on chess.com or is not on live chess by 30 minutes after the game start unless a difficulty is noted before 30 minutes after the game starts by the team leader.
